What if social media wasn’t designed around just humans? The HyperObjects app is a social platform where rivers, fungi, mountains, thunderstorms, and star systems have their own profiles, and every post is a collaboration between human and nonhuman presences. This talk explores how changing who - and what - we can build relationships with could transform our social technology, creative expression, and sense of belonging.

Which climate innovations have the greatest potential to scale from bold ideas into solutions that transform economies and communities?
ClimateLaunchpad, powered by Climate KIC, is the world's largest green business competition. This session is the Asia-Pacific Regional Final: eight finalists from 11 countries pitch to an expert jury with live Q&A. While the jury was deciding on the finalist, I pitched HyperObjects in a panel - moderated by Christa Beck (Climate KIC), alongside founders Abishek Choudhury (Earth Story Farms) and Cinthya Sopaheluwakan (The Big Picture).
Resilience, resistance, protection, sustainability — the climate movement's dominant vocabulary is oppositional and reactive to extractivism. But life is motion, change, expression. I've watched people enter this work at a real pitch of aliveness and consciousness, then become pure opposition to motion, and burn out. As Buckminster Fuller put it: you don't change an existing system by fighting it, you build a new one that makes it obsolete.
HyperObjects re-centers relationships between species that most cultures on earth maintained for millennia and treats ecosystems as social systems: the ecological crisis as a crisis of relationship. There's no human/nature duality, that’s pure ego — nonhuman life has agency, and a healthy ecosystem is one where every part of it gets to express itself.
The panel discussion pushed further into what leading from that place actually looks like, day to day: integration instead of opposition, somatic experience, deep listening, getting honest about our own emotions, subconscious architecture, patterns, conditioning and bias. Not resilience, but regeneration, co-evolution.

In her speech for Future Day 2025, Judith Sun encourages the Berlin University of the Arts to shape its future consciously and powerfully. Drawing on neurobiological findings, the history of human development and the knowledge of our ancestors, she shows why change can only succeed when we detach ourselves from the familiar, use fear as a driving force and act on the basis of a clear vision of the future. Sun reminds us of the original power of art – free play, creative resilience and the ability to develop new forms of thinking and creating even under pressure. Her impetus encourages us to break down barriers, strengthen collaboration and form a new identity for the Berlin University of the Arts that will support and inspire future generations of artists.
